Ray Mears - Bushcraft
Ray is a great promoter of bushcraft.
His TV series and books are fantastic resources of important human skills
and knowledge for responsibly enjoying (and surviving) the wilderness and
nature. His book ‘Bushcraft’ starts with a quote from Knut Haukelid Skis
in ‘Against the Atom’:
“We learned that one cannot
defy nature, but must adapt and accommodate oneself to her. Nature will not
change; it is man who must change, if he is to live in conditions where nature
is dominant.”
Says it all really.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
- A Cook on the Wild Side and River Cottage.
Hugh and his Gastro-wagon are
now famous on TV all over the world. Hugh took the ‘Bush-tucker Man’ idea
and spent a year touring the UK countryside living on wild food and making
a video of his experiences.
Hugh has done more than anyone
else in the media to promote the wild food in our environment and a responsible
attitude to enjoying it. Many restaurants now offer wild and local alternatives
on their menu directly as a result of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
Hugh now runs River Cottage and
is responsible for promoting a better understanding of the nature and origins
of what we eat, and to celebrate and contribute to the vibrancy of our local
food community.

| Guy Watson - Riverford
Organic Vegetables Ltd
Guy founded the Riverford organic
vegetable box delivery scheme, which now has over 30,000 customers in the
south of UK. Spurned by the supermarket buyers who offered little or no profit
for organic food growers, Guy set up a franchise delivery service and has
single-handedly done more to promote the use of organics in UK than anyone
else.
|
Every fortnight for ten years
or so I have received one of these delicious boxes and a bag of fruit. My
delivery list is always marked with the % grown in UK, with delicious recipes
and a newsletter. I would not give up my Riverford veg. box for anything
less than a walled garden! A true modern hero!

Dave Thompson, actor,
writer and comedian.
Dave's quirky comedy has got him
work as a stand-up comedian in the USA, Sweden, France, Ireland, Holland,
The Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, India and The Falklands.
This in addition to the British "comedy circuit", including Jongleurs and
The Comedy Store in London.
Dave is best known for being (and getting sacked as) Tinky Winky - the most famous of the “TELETUBBIES”. As well as his depth
of comedy experience he has several credits as a serious stage actor.
He writes all his own jokes, as well as providing material to many other
comedians appearing live on stage and on television and radio. His print credits
include co-writing on the book "Sit Down Comedy" with Jim Tavare,
and magazines ESQUIRE, GQ, TIME OUT, and IT MAGAZINE. He always makes me laugh. Find him at:

Bharatanatyam, a classic dance style from South India and is particularly
interested in exploring the healing capabilities of the Sitar and the Vina,
classic Indian instruments.

modelling for Marie Claire Magazine, acting in ITV's "The Sketch Show" and

Guy Dauncey, writer, speaker
and consultant
It was Guy Dauncey more than anyone
who influenced me to experiment with new social exchange systems in my local
town.
His book 'After the Crash' made
such a lot of sense it sent me on a 20 year journey of local 'maverick', social
innovation that resulted in my book 'Making Community Work'.
Guy now lives near Vancouver,
Canada and continues to be a paradigm shifting author on the subjects of
global warming and sustainable living.
