WATERCOLOUR GALLERY IN LOSTWITHIEL by Simon Mitchell
This gallery shows some watercolour
paintings by the artist.
Simon uses several techniques
and is a keen advocate of masking fluid. His work ranges from the representational,
usually nature inspired from around Lostwithiel, to the abstract, which is inspired by either
technique or 'inner landscape visualisation'.
Cornwall and especially the Fowey Valley remains an over-riding
fascination for the artist and those quiet moments when one can
"...see a world in a grain of
sand
And heaven in a wild flower."
(William Blake)
Simon uses a 200gsm Bockingford
paper with a limited palette to achieve purity of colour in mixing paint.
